This weekend Zara met lots of new people. We discovered that she loves attention from anyone and everyone. Guess she’s not going to make a good guard dog!
On Friday night, we had our friends over for dinner. They have a very cute mixed-breed dog named Jax and we had been looking forward to introducing Jax to our new puppy. Jax is very well-mannered and gentle, so we were pretty sure he’d be okay around Zara. Zara was cautious at first but she definitely wanted to play with Jax. He wasn’t quite as enthusiastic but allowed her to sniff and follow him around. He’s almost 3 years old, so I think the puppy energy may have been a little much for him.

Jax was also jealous of any toy that Zara had. He would take away the toy she was playing with. We tried giving him a different toy, but he was only interested in the ones that Zara had. His owners were giving Zara lots of attention, and he did not like that. It was pretty funny to see him stalking around, obviously annoyed. Overall, though, they got along fine and hopefully Jax will warm up to Zara as she grows up a little.

We also tried on Zara’s first outfit – a purple and pink tutu! :) Our friends had given it to us as a joke, since Chris is against Zara wearing any frou-frou clothes. Zara was not a big fan of wearing it, but we were able to get a bunch of photos of her in it. She needs to get used to wearing clothing because it’s winter and every time we go outside (which is quite often!), she is shivering. Hopefully she will tolerate a coat soon.

On Sunday, Chris and I went to lunch with close to 20 of our friends as a pre-birthday thing for Chris. Afterwards, most of them came to our house to meet Zara. She was so excited to have so many visitors! She would sit in anyone’s lap who was on the floor and was more than happy to play fetch with them. I’m glad she’s so friendly with everyone. She seems a little cautious around the few other dogs we’ve seen in the neighborhood but she certainly loves people!
