On Saturday night, Chris and I took Zara on a little shopping trip. The World Market store near us allows dogs and I had been wanting to take her there. She’s finally had all her puppy shots, so it’s safe for her to walk on public floors and be where other dogs have been. Since it’s been so cold, it’s been challenging to find stuff to do with her that doesn’t involve being outside in the freezing weather. I think it’s great that some stores allow dogs because it’s good for her socialization and it prevents us from having to leave her at home in her crate.

I’ve done a bit of research and below is a list of stores I’ve found that allow dogs:

1. World Market (Pentagon City)
2. Hudson Trail Outfitters (Pentagon City)
3. Orvis (Clarendon)
4. Home Depot (Duke Street)
5. Crate and Barrel
6. Pottery Barn
7. Macy’s
8. Hardwood Artisans (Shirlington)

I have heard that Crate and Barrel, Macy’s and Pottery Barn allow dogs, but I think it depends on the location and I have not checked with the ones near us.

Zara did pretty well in World Market. She was pulling on the leash a bit but of course wanted to talk to everyone. She did not try to steal anything. We didn’t spend too much time in there because it was almost time for them to close but I will definitely take her back there because I love that store.

After that, we went to the Petco Unleashed nearby and got a few different kinds of treats. One of the store employees gave her a dog cookie and she was quite excited. I wanted to take her to Hudson Trail after but we didn’t have time.

I also took her to Home Depot a couple weeks ago and she was fine there as well. It makes sense to me that Home Depot would allow dogs because they have plain concrete floors and there’s probably already a lot of dirt and dust from the lumber and other products.

I’m not sure if the clothing store Zara allows dogs but that would be pretty cool if they did! (Side note: She is not actually named after the store).
