It’s hard to believe, but Zara turned one yesterday. I feel like I’ve been anticipating this day for a while now, mostly because her turning one means that we can start running with her and that she will be more mature.

To celebrate, we had a birthday party of course. :) Actually, we hosted a joint birthday party with Zara’s sister Lily’s parents. Brooke and Phill graciously offered to host the gathering at their house and their large yard was perfect for the birthday girls to run around with their doggie friends.

We came a little early to help set up before the party started and that allowed Zara and Lily to run around and get some energy out before everyone else arrived. We had appetizers and desserts for the humans and cupcakes for the pups. I made the cupcakes from flour, peanut butter, carrots and honey, and honestly, they looked like something I could eat! I was all prepared to take a video of Zara enjoying her cupcake but I didn’t anticipate that she would scarf it down it one bite! Lily did the same thing. So I have no video of that.

Brooke got the puppies custom-made birthday hats and we managed to get several decent pictures with them wearing the hats. They were surprisingly tolerant.

Despite the somewhat dreary weather, the party was a success and I think the birthday girls had a lot of fun.
