Individual Coaching

“I originally reached out to Terry Ann for help with the Clicker-Retrieve Method, thinking that she could help me understand the steps of the process and how to get my dog to improve her retrieving. Through Terry Ann’s virtual coaching program, we gained so much more value than anticipated.

Beyond the retrieving behavior, Terry Ann helped me develop a more well-rounded understanding of dog training as a whole by identifying nuances in my dog’s behavior and body language, understanding what motivates my dog, and establishing clear communication methods. These skills and knowledge have helped me train my dog with more than just the Clicker-Retrieve Method, translating to all aspects of our training and improved the connection I have to my dog.”

John, Braque Français owner

“As someone with ADHD it’s easy for me to forget things, not follow-up or hyper fixate on small details. Terry Ann helps keep me organized, reminds me about sign-up deadlines, follows up when I go MIA and keeps our coaching calls on track – all things that are extremely valuable traits in a coach.

Additionally her ability to level up or level down information based on where the learner is is unparalleled. I work in the dog training space so there are certain things I understand well, but the nuance to some of the pointing dog training means I need it broken down to the most basic level. She has been able to fluently switch from high level obedience training conversations to very beginner terminology conversations on a dime.”

Kelsea, German Shorthaired Pointer Owner

“I wanted to do hunt training with my Vizsla, and I was having trouble finding resources. I was looking online one day, and found [Terry Ann’s] coaching services.

I knew I wanted to try a hunt test, but I thought it would take a long time before my dog Gunner and I could participate. [Terry Ann] helped me realize that we could do a Junior hunt test, without needing a tremendous amount of training. [She] helped with finding professional trainers to work with, so Gunner could get some exposure to birds, as well as giving me exercises on my own to do, such as gun acclimation.

With [Terry Ann’s] coaching and encouragement, Gunner achieved his JH title. I look forward to continuing working with [her]!”

Wilma, Vizsla owner

“I’m very new to the bird dog world and my dogs are older so it was helpful working with a coach who understands the unique challenges that come with being a new trainer trying to train older dogs. Terry Ann was patient, understanding and always had good feedback and ideas for me whenever we ran into walls with our training. We were able to work through the basics of steadiness and retrieving with my dogs and Terry Ann’s guidance and help was invaluable. Highly recommend!”

Emilie, Brittany owner

“I’m super happy with the Natural Ability test results. Terry Ann helped point me in the direction of [a local trainer], which we were able to work with a bird launcher. Now working on the e-collar. We have been able to choose a better collar for Kona with more settings and able to get Kona more comfortable with the e-collar.

Terry Ann is able to make things easy to understand, is attentive, and knows what the client is going through because of going through it herself.”

Kendall, Pudelpointer owner

“It’s super helpful to have more resources to look into in terms of methods used for steadiness work. Following the session she’s made big progress in holding her point on the pallet. It was nice to chat about the use of ecollars and layering that stimulation on top of already known behaviours, not new ones, as I completely agree with that methodology. Also good to understand that some dogs will naturally be more talented in trials but we don’t necessarily need to “give up” on them either!”

Maddie, Vizsla owner

“I enjoyed the training plan. I liked that it was personalized and adjusted weekly to fit life demands. And that it was specific to our needs. Thanks so much for your time and help!”

Kim, English Setter owner

“Terry Ann has an incredible breadth of knowledge on dog training. [She has] a unique perspective compared to many traditional trainers.”

Brian, Brittany owner

“I wanted to get bird dog training from a trainer experienced with Vizslas. [Terry Ann] was great for advice for training whoa, and introductions to birds in launchers and reintroduction to gun fire. [She] gave me a very practical framework for how to execute training sessions with my pup.”

Adam, Vizsla owner

“You have been such an invaluable piece of our dive into the bird dog world, and I am so excited to keep pursuing this journey.”

Maggie, Vizsla owner

Group Coaching / Field Foundations Program

“Terry Ann’s Field Foundations coaching calls came at the perfect time for me! As I embarked on my journey into the gundog world with my puppy, I found myself overwhelmed by the sheer amount of information available online. Securing a spot in the coaching program was a game-changer—it provided a supportive environment where I could ask questions without hesitation, even as a complete beginner. I gained valuable insights not only from Terry Ann but also from the experiences shared by others in the group. I highly recommend this program to anyone interested in field trials or hunting tests with their dog.

Michelle N, Vizsla owner

“I absolutely loved the Field Foundations program! It provided the perfect structure and resources to help me get started in the bird dog world. It covered all the essential information in a way that was easy to follow, and the environment was incredibly safe, accepting, and understanding—especially for a beginner like me.

One of my favorite parts was being part of a supportive cohort of women who share similar interests. Learning alongside them made the experience both motivating and fun, and of course, there were plenty of adorable dogs along the way! Terry Ann is an exceptionally knowledgeable and experienced instructor who gives each participant lots of individual attention. It was always easy to ask questions and get personalized feedback. Thanks to this program, I now feel confident taking initiative—attending NAVHDA meetings, volunteering for test days, and reaching out to trainers to keep learning.

If you’re looking for a welcoming, well-structured way to begin your journey in the bird dog community, I can’t recommend Field Foundations enough.”

Miki, Vizsla owner

“[I participated in Terry Ann’s Field Foundations program]. I really appreciated the focus on adapting hunting dog training to real-life situations (suburbs, limited bird availability etc) I also found it very reassuring that she focused on building a relationship with your dog. The fact that she and her own Vizsla, Zara had spent YEARS learning the process really took the pressure that I felt to work towards a “finish line”. My goal is to spend time with my dog doing something we both love.

The very detailed, step by step, process of gun acclimation [was very helpful]. Even as a novice I realized how crucial it was to not goof up on that process though my own inexperience.”

Michelle W., Vizsla owner

“The Field Foundations course is the perfect introduction to what’s what in getting started with your upland bird dog. Terry Ann does a great job of breaking down each step, what you’ll need, and what to expect, while creating a welcoming environment and providing lots of additional resources. I think that having an overview of bird dog training that took into account several perspectives and options, more of a ‘training the dog in front of you and see what works’ method, was really helpful. As I’ve been exploring this type of training, I haven’t found many trainers who agree. Knowing that that is okay and expected, that there is no one size fits all with training pointers, was really helpful.

I would recommend the Field Foundations class to anyone getting started with their bird dog.”

Julia, Vizsla owner

“[I liked how Field Foundations really laid] out the basics for someone completely new to this world! There really isn’t anything like this out there – I feel more confident approaching these situations that I ever have. Thank you!”

Sarah, German shorthaired pointer owner

“I got my dog with the intention of hunting with him. I quickly was intimidated by the terminology and different organizations and, not having a mentor, never got around to truly pursuing it. Terry Ann’s Field Foundations course helped demystify the sports and I now feel capable of training on my own.”

Kourtni, German shorthaired pointer owner
